Silence is golden.

A few days ago, some of us brought some winter weight to the post office to ship off to our families. After, we continued to meander around town only encouraged by the bright sun that sat high in the sky. On our walk home, we were confronted with a sharp spring breeze and the commencement of the spring melt. (Yes. I said SPRING despite the snow falling today.) Our walk back to our dorm was silent. The only thing we heard was the plop of our feet in the puddles and the birds chirping. The past few days have been quiet among our group. We must be preoccupied; mulling things over in stead of conversing. We might be thinking of traveling again, or perhaps we cannot stop thinking of how great Mora is. Heck, maybe some of us cannot get over the fact that we are nearly half way through our time in Sweden!
It is a sign of comfort when a group can be silent together. It is not that we have exhausted topics to discuss, trust me. This shows a glimpse of our group development over the past two months. During the natural silence amid group members there is a still energy that is exchanged between them. The group understands each other more every week and this ease in camaraderie is one way we make each other aware of how close we are. We are a unit now, we are Gustavus Semester in Sweden 2011. Next stop-- Uppsala! It is going to be such an adventure- we will play Innebandy and be living with a farm of beagle puppies in our backyards. What more could we look forward to?

Enjoying our outdoor fika this morning.
